Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay" is an invented name for the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing. The word "giclée" is derived from the French language word "le gicleur" meaning "nozzle", or more specifically "gicler" meaning "to squirt, spurt, or spray". The name was originally applied to fine art prints created on Iris printers in a process invented in the early 1990s but has since come to mean any high quality ink-jet print and is often used in galleries and print shops to denote such prints. Not all Giclee is created equal. At Graphica, we're only interested in producing the finest quality Giclee prints. We use the latest HP Vivera inks to create prints lasting up to 200 years (tested using accelerated testing) with one of the widest colour gamuts available, and 3 black inks to create deep natural blacks and b&w prints with no colour casts. We have a wide range of medias available, from high quality photo papers, natural cotton rag papers, textured or smooth, canvas, and even fabrics. We can mount your print too, or stretch your canvas and can even photograph and colour correct your artwork, ready to produce your limited edition fine art prints. We work with many artists, photographers and galleries around the area and throughout New Zealand. If you're after the ultimate in quality, we'd love to hear from you.
